Bemm River
is famous for its fishing but in more recent times other nature based activities
have also attracted holiday makers to the area including bird watchers,
eco-tourists and hikers. The town
contains a hotel, a shop, two caravan parks and a number of self contained
flats and bungalows. Be aware that there is no
petrol sold in Bemm River and you should ensure that you have sufficient
for your boat and car. Petrol is
available at Cann River and Orbost so make sure you
have enough in your tank to travel at least 100 - 150 km.
This site should provide you with the information to make your visit to Bemm River enjoyable. You can check on how to get here and the local weather at the bottom of this page.

All are available in Bemm River. There are also photographs of Bemm from the air, some great photos of fish caught recently and a fishing report that is updated regularly. *To go to the beaches at Bemm River one needs either, a boat to go across the inlet to the channel and to the beach, or to go down the back road several kilometres to the back beaches. tips on catching fish at Bemm River.

Bemm
River, Victoria, Australia is situated approximately 450km east of Melbourne
along the Princes Highway. Once past Orbost you travel for about 32km, turn
right (at Manorina) and travel south for about 23km.
Please use caution when travelling at night as there is a lot of wildlife on
the road after dark (wallabies, wombats & deer). If you are travelling from
the east then Cann River is the last town before you
turn left and head south towards our village. (see Maps)
As
you drive south, you will be travelling through the Bemm State Forest and the
far eastern fringe of the Cape Conran Coastal Park.
Once you reach the area where the road begins to snake downwards you will
encounter the actual Bemm River. This river winds its way down from the
mountains to the north and is fed by the Errinundra
River, McKenzie River and Conbienbar River as well as
many creeks and streams. You will run parallel with the river before it leaves
to meander off through the farmland before finally spilling into Sydenham
Inlet. Here is where you will find our town, nestled between the river, the
inlet and the sea.
