Don’t forget that The Bemm River CFA run their Fish and Chip night on Easter Sunday 4th April 2010 in the CFA Shed in Roberts Rd and we encourage all at the Bemm to back this important town organisation and turn up to a good night.  BYO drinks.  

 

The Inaugural Bemm River Bream Classic will also be run that weekend with the prizes being presented on Sunday at the Firebrigade Fish and Chip Night.  Click on the link below for information on the Angling Club event.


 

There's always something happening at the Bemm!  Whether it’s a market, fishing competition or classes at the Community Centre - it's all happening here. What we intend to do on this page is keep you up to date on what is going on in and around our town, so we have included links to two documents that should provide you with all the info you need. Firstly there will be the current Bemm River News and secondly, the monthly What's On calendar. If there is something else you wish to know then contact us and we will attempt to answer your questions for you. What's On Calendar – Now available 

 

Clubs and Activities

 

Progress association has been in existence for many years and meets the first Monday in the month at 8 pm in the Bemm River Community Centre.  For further information contact David Sturgess on (03) 5158 4233.

 

Ladies craft day is every Monday at 1.30 pm and every Wednesday at 8 pm in the Bemm River Community Centre and costs $2 including afternoon tea.  All visitors are welcome so call in and have a cuppa with the girls

 

Social Tennis is held at the Bemm River Courts on Thursdays at 9 am.  Call Sue Cunningham on 5158 4208 to join in or have a hit anytime.  Sue, at 6 Banksia Rd Bemm River, has tennis racquets and balls for loan and also has cricket gear and footballs to use with the cricket nets and goal posts respectively.  This recreation area is maintained by a local committee for the use of town folk and visitors.

 

The Community Centre is open 1.30 pm to 5 pm Monday, Wednesday 8 pm -10 pm and Thursday 1.30 pm -5 pm for cards (1.30pm - 2.30 pm if no cards).  Facilities include internet, fax, educational programs etc.

 

The Angling Club is back in business with renewed vigour.  Go to their web site for information www.brac.asn.au .

 

The Bemm River Fire Brigade meets at the Fire Station on the first Tuesday of the month at 7 pm. On the third Sunday of the month, you will hear the siren call the members to practice at 9 am.  Each year the Brigade has a fish and chip night at the Station on Easter Sunday evening starting about 5.30 pm.  In 2010 it should be 4 April 2010.  Put this in your not-to-be-missed annual events.  New members are most welcome as a number have moved from the area.  Contact Russell on (03) 5158 4220.

 

 

Garden Day Out


A number of organisations, such as the Orbost Garden Club, have organised a day trip to Bemm River visiting Di Cunningham’s garden in the morning followed by lunch at the Bemm River Hotel and finishing at Wattsy's Orchid Wonderland.

Lunch at the Hotel was the followed by afternoon tea at Jaqui and Gary Watts’ Place.

 

    

 

Wattsy's Orchid Wonderland has a collection of many hundred of different varities of orchids and is worth a vist.  The orchids are under constant care from Gary and Jaqui Watts of Banksia St., Bemm River.  Visitors are welcome, and are encouraged to phone and make an appointment, rather than be disappointed (03) 5158 4299.  See their web site at www.wow-orchids.com.
