For tips on how to fish Sydenham Inlet please go to the TIPS page

The following information is to be used as a guide only. We will now be including a link to the Bemm River Angling Club website as part of this report to keep you thoroughly up to date on the state of the fishing in Bemm River.

Fishing Report as at 15th July 2008 (The lake closed around the 10th February 2008)

Estuary/River

The entrance is still closed and water is rising slowly. both ramps are in action so there is plenty of parking for all. See Gallery for latest photos of the main car-park. The weather has been a little challenging of late with cold mornings and some wind. however, for those prepared to work a little, there are some bream poking around the Mahogany's and off the little jetty. Most are taking peeled local prawn with the odd one taking sandworm. There are a couple of luderick still about taking sandworm - try the mouth of the channel. If you're after a bit of fun head up to the bridge below the falls - there are some large tailor taking silver lures - up to 2kgs. There are also some large poddy mullet up there as well, but they're not taking anything.

The river has been quiet.

Water levels are rising slowly but when in the river - be careful!. Trees are still sitting just under the surface and hitting one of those submerged trees can be devastating especially to your motor and your holiday.

Sandworm is limited but available daily at the shop (weather permitting). Frozen local prawns also available.

Beaches

Pearl Point is fishing well with salmon to 2kgs being taken on lures and pilchards.

For access updates see Beaches (latest photos taken 02.02.08). Before you decide on where to fish have a look from a high point for gutters along the beach edges - these will more often than not contain schools of foraging fish. All you need to do is cast into one of these gutters, preferably on an incoming tide, and hang on!!

Remember wherever your fishing - don't leave rubbish lying around, bring it home with you. We need to protect our environment - if we don't who will!

Finally, only keep what you need. We need to preserve our fish stocks so catch and release where possible. Log onto the Fishcare website for more information on catch and release rulers and techniques.

Check with your local advisor upon arrival in town to make sure that these reports are up to date. We will attempt to update this site as often as possible. If you have any feed back please contact us and we will be happy to post your stories, adventures and photos on this site.

RETURN

Rod Shepherd from the western districts of Victoria with a couple of lovely bream taken recently on soft plastics 100m out from the main jetty towards Bob's Bay in less than a metre of water. Bob and his father enjoyed a week at Bemm staying at the caravan park. Both these fish weighed over 1.5kgs each and were 42 & 44cm respectively. Nice job Rod!!
